The healthcare industry is growing rapidly, and offering more high-paying job opportunities than any other field in this tough economy. Many of these positions require an extensive educational background and training certifications, such as ACLS. ACLS certification is a common requirement for many healthcare and medical professionals, and it is important to keep past certifications up-to-date with renewals.

Here are some of the healthcare positions that provide a substantial yearly salary and are currently in high demand:

Occupational Therapist

Similar to a physical therapist, occupational therapists work with patients who are experiencing debilitating physical conditions. In addition, they also work with patients who have disabling developmental and mental conditions. This position is ideal for individuals with a great deal of compassion and emotional sensibility who can help patients progress physically as well as emotionally.

Average Salary: $72,000

Certified RN Anesthetist

Registered Nurse Anesthetists who are certified (CRNAs) work with patients in therapeutic, obstetrical, surgical, and diagnostic settings by administering anesthesia. They may also provide emergency services and pain management. CRNAs observe the health condition of post-surgery patients. The role of this position varies in each state, and some CRNAs may work independently. CRNAs are predicted to be in high demand in the coming years, particularly in rural and inner city areas.

Radiation Therapist

Working in the field of radiologic technology, radiation therapists are essential for the implementation of cancer treatment. Radiation therapists ensure that cancer patients are only exposed to the necessary radiation for their treatment, and that no surrounding healthy tissue is affected. These medical professionals are currently in high demand due to significant improvements being made in the treatment of cancer.

Average Salary: $75,000

Cardiovascular Perfusionist

During surgery, cardiovascular perfusionists observe and maintain lung and heart function for the patient. They operate various kinds of equipment like bypass machines to control and a patient’s respiration and blood circulation throughout a medical procedure.

Average Salary: $93,000

Hospital Administrator

This is a demanding position involving the management and coordination of hospitals, clinics, treatment centers, and hospices. They ensure that all patients are receiving adequate care and that overall operations are running smoothly. Hospital administrators also recruit and hire the whole medical staff including nurses, doctors, assistants, and interns. They also plan the facility’s budget and set rates for the health services provided by the facility.
