5 of the Highest Paying Healthcare Professions

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has predicted that the healthcare industry will generate more new employment opportunities than any other field over the next decade. The healthcare industry offers many high-paying positions, some of which don’t even require a medical license. ACLS certification is also a common requirement for these positions. Many healthcare jobs are in high demand, and now is a great time to enter this highly rewarding and well-paid career field.  Here are a few of the well-paid healthcare professions that are currently in demand:

Pharmacist

This position requires a candidate to earn a Pharm.D. degree from an accredited institution. P harm.D. program applicants must have 2-3 years of undergraduate coursework, and should have a proficient science and mathematics background. Pharmacists not only fill prescriptions, but spend most of their time advising patients about their prescriptions and how to avoid drug-interactions.

Average Salary: $92,000

Nurse Practitioner

Nurse practitioners have a versatile job that allows them to work in various settings and fulfill a diverse array of roles. They give consultations. diagnoses, consultations , and dispense advice on preventative care. A nurse practitioner can act as a primary or specialty care provider, so healthcare employers are eager to employ them since they can perform many of the same responsibilities as a physician.

Average Salary: $90,000

Nurse-Midwife (Certified)

Certified Nurse-Midwives are involved in the whole pregnancy process, from prenatal care to labor and delivery. They coordinate the whole birthing procedure, and may work for a healthcare facility or independently. This position is in demand particularly in inner cities and rural areas. To become an accredited nurse-midwife, one must obtain a degree in midwifery, typically after completing their bachelor’s degree. However, some institutions offer an RN to MSN program for those with n associate’s degree.

Typical Annual Salary: $92,000

Physical Therapist

Physical therapists help treat patients who cannot physically move or function freely because of a disability, illness, or injury. They create treatments which restore patients’ mobility and functionality while also focusing on pain management.

Average Salary: $76,000

Physician’s Assistant

Physician assistants perform many tasks that were once performed by physicians. With the supervision of a physician, they diagnose and treat illnesses, while also creating treatment strategies. Some even assist surgeons. It usually takes two or more years to complete a program in physician assistance.

Average Salary: $86,000
