Oklahoma ACLS Recertification and Renewal Class

August 09, 2012

As the third unhealthiest state in the country in 2011, Oklahoma’s health statistics have increased slightly from its fifth place ranking in 2010. The improvement has been attributed to a reduction in preventable deaths and a drop in the number of smokers in the state, but there is still a lot of room for improvement. For medical professionals wishing to work in the state, ACLS recertification in Oklahoma is vitally important, especially as there is a shortage of primary care providers to help alleviate the serious health problems.

The southern states in the nation have become notorious for poor health over the years, and while there has been some improvement, states like Oklahoma, Louisiana and Mississippi are far behind areas further north, rendering the region in desperate need of medical professionals with ACLS Certification. Even though high per capita public health funding is available, Oklahoma still ranks second in the country for cardiovascular mortality rates, and researchers at the University of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City are hard at work investigating risk factors like diabetes, obesity and hypertension to improve the lives of local residents.

Some recent news out of Oklahoma City has indicated that 34% of Americans qualify for Metabolic Syndrome, as they meet the criteria for cardiometabolic risk factors like diabetes, obesity, high glucose levels and hypertension. The outcomes of the study have probed the effects of exercise, and emphasized the importance of high intensity physical activity to bring down the rates of heart disease and stroke. While prevention is certainly better than cure, there is still a dire need for patients to get the necessary emergency care and treatment to lower the mortality rate, and ACLS renewal programs specific to the needs of the state are important in equipping medical professionals to offer immediate care in order to assist with preventable deaths.

For those who want to take part in ACLS classes, courses are available at major cities throughout the state, in Tulsa, Muskogee, Lawton and Claremore. For professionals who are already working and do not have the time to dedicate to attending classes, online ACLS courses offer the same level of qualification and an insight into the most urgent needs of Oklahoma residents. Even if you obtained your Advanced Cardiac Life Support qualification in another part of the country, an ACLS recertification is required every two years to ensure that your skills and experience is kept up to date.
