Pulseless Electrical Activity

Pulseless electrical activity is represented by various ECG rhythms that include idioventricular rhythms, ventricular escape rhythms, postdefibrillation idioventricular rhythms, and even sinus rhythm. Any rhythm without a palpable pulse except ventricular fibrillation, pulseless ventricular tachycardia, or asystole. PEA is not a shockable rhythm. The PEA algorithm is located on the right side of the cardiac arrest algorithm, and you can find that algorithm here. Drugs used in the treatment of PEA include epinephrine and vasopressin.
