Recertification – for most nurses and physicians – is a bit different than the original certification. Many ACLS classes are a full day or most of two days in duration; recertification classes are much shorter. There is lot of material that is covered in an ACLS class and even for experienced professionals much of that material is new, so learning and retaining that information requires quite a bit of work: when you recertify, the initial learning process has been accomplished. And when recertification is due, knowing the material and putting it into use is expected.
So recertification is easier – you know the material – but it is also more difficult because the focus is not simply learning ACLS but applying it to clinical situations. With this sort of pressure, online ACLS recertification can be very helpful and offers these advantages.
Relax: Some people may respond well to a lot of pressure during the learning process, but for most of us learning is best accomplished when we can relax. Also, when you first took ALCS you were not expected to know the ACLS protocols/techniques or know how to use them. If you are recertifying you are expected to be able to use ACLS quickly and correctly. There is more pressure when you are recertifying. An online ACLS recertification class allows the student to learn in a comfortable atmosphere: you choose when, where, and how you study. In ERs and ICUs your knowledge of ACLS can help save lives: make the learning process as relaxed as possible so that you can use ALCS to the best of your ability.
It’s your life: If you need ACLS recertification you are working full-time and you are busy. Traditional class-room based ACLS recertification are offered two, perhaps three times a year. Online ACLS recertification courses are available at any time; the convenience of this is obvious and it can be a big help in learning and retaining.
Mastery: many students focus on learning ACLS, and that is understandable, but you really should focus on using ACLS. Obviously, learning and using ALCS are inseparable and opportunities for actually practicing ACLS are limited. But an online ACLS recertification offers you the opportunity to take enough time to learn the material and learn it well enough so that application of ACLS will become second nature.
Online ACLS recertification courses are an accepted way to retain ACLS certification. The convenience of an online course is obvious, but the true value is increasing your ability to use ACLS and that makes you a better professional.
