Benefits of Online ACLS Certification

Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification is a requirement for many medical professionals. Taking an ACLS course involves a considerable amount of effort, learning a lot of information that will be new to you, and then passing a written test and a practical skills test.

With all of the time and work that will be involved in an ACLS course – time and work that you will have to fit into a busy schedule – the benefits of online ACLS can be very attractive. ACLS courses have traditionally been two eight-hour days, classroom-based courses sponsored by hospitals or health care organizations, offered two or three times a year. But online ACLS is quite different, and offers many advantages. Examples of these advantages are:

  • Proximity: You may live close to where a classroom-based ACLS course is offered – or you may not and you will need to factor in travel time when you take a traditional ACLS course. But an online ACLS course epitomizes convenience; the classroom is as close as your computer. And with online ACLS, you don’t have to wait for a scheduled course, and you don’t have to worry that you won’t get a spot in the course you want.
  • Pacing: A two-day course is a two-day course: all of the teaching and a lot of the learning is accomplished in those two classes, and that may be enough time for some people. However, it may not be nearly enough for others, yet the basic format cannot be changed to accommodate every learner. One of the obvious benefits of online ACLS is there is no limit on the amount of time you can spend learning the material. After you have you have signed up for an online ACLS course, you can spend as long as you need to with the curriculum.
  • Personal attention: In a traditional classroom setting, the ACLS instructors are somewhat constrained by time. There is a lot of material to be covered, there are often many students, and it can be difficult for an instructor to give someone the help they need if that will interfere with class completion and the learning of the other students. A very valuable benefit of online ACLS is that the instructors can help you whenever you need it, for as long as you need it, and they can spend as much time as you need reviewing a section or sections of the ACLS curriculum that you find difficult.

Are there any disadvantages to online ACLS? No, not really. The curriculum that is used is identical to what is offered in the traditional classroom course, and the costs are essentially the same. The instructors involved in online ACLS are certified ACLS instructors, and they have very likely used ACLS skills in the field. You get the same information, you pay the same cost, you have qualified teachers, you get unlimited support, and you do it all at your own pace.
