Fort Worth was struck by an F3 tornado on March 28, 2000 which was the first major tornado to hit Fort Worth. Tourism is popular with several attractions located within or around the Fort Worth area. The Stockyards National Historic District is a large historic district with rodeos, saloons, and shops. The Fort Worth herd, a group of longhorn steer, are driven twice per day by cowhands down Exchange Avenue. The Van Zandt Cottage is a historic Victorian mansion that tourists can walk through. There are 32 miles of trails for walking or biking on Trinity Trail. The Fort Worth Zoo is a popular destination with 5,000 animals and several unique exhibits. The Log Cabin Village has restored cabins from the 1800s and live pioneer reenactments. The Fort Worth Botanic Garden has acres of plants and a Japanese garden. Six Flags over Texas is a popular amusement park. The Fort Worth community supports the local performing arts, and there are numerous art and performance events in the city. The Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Performance Hall is the home of the Fort Worth Symphony, the Fort Worth Opera, and the Texas Ballet Theater.
