It is known as the “Home of the Blues” and the “Birthplace of Rock ‘n Roll. ”

These three companies employ many of Memphis’s residents and significantly contribute to the economy of Memphis. Several homes built in Victorian style can be toured as well.

The music history of Memphis is rich. Jazz, blues, and rock and roll have been strongly influenced by the culture of Memphis. W.C. Handy is considered the father of blues and wrote many of his songs in Memphis. Beale Street is a cultural and historic site where blues music was founded. The street is also a nightclub and blues and jazz district. Memphis is also home to Graceland, Elvis Presley’s former estate. 700,000 people visit Graceland annually and it is set on 14 acres of ground. The rich music and cultural history of Memphis gives the city a unique charm.
